Geospatial Coordinator
$61,665.45 – $70,367.02 annually

The Northern Region (NR) is the second of the three regions in the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure to implement a geospatial services team.  This position will be leading the creation and implementation of the geospatial program to serve the expanding needs of our clients in the Northern Region. This position will work independently in the Northern Region while also collaborating with the GIS teams in the Southern Interior Region and Headquarters to ensure a unified and consistent approach to the development of the geospatial program.

Working in the beautiful city of Prince George as the Geospatial Coordinator you will be responsible for creating and implementing the NR’s geospatial program.  You will:

Develop and implement geospatial standards, procedures and policies,
Identify and adopt geospatial technologies to meet client’s needs,
Educate and train staff on GIS products and data management,
Prioritize, monitor and analyse geospatial service requests,
Use automation to maximize operational efficiency,
Provide excellent customer service,
Produce maps, reports and other products that meet the client’s needs,
Collaborate with the ministry’s spatial architecture and highway inventory teams,
Create and build strong relationships with the geospatial community within the BC Public Service,
Supervise, mentor and coach the spatial analyst (vacant) and any temporary staff, and
Manage the geospatial team’s budget and act as an expense authority.

Qualifications for this role include:

Experience developing and implementing a GIS infrastructure for an organization/program/project.
Experience using sound technical knowledge and analytical skills with geospatial tools including ESRI ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, Python scripting, SQL, relational databases, remote sensing and related technologies.
Extensive experience in utilizing Python scripting for automating complex geospatial workflows.
Experience leveraging customized spatial applications, and open source and proprietary spatial software to support client needs.
Experience in the development and maintenance of data management policies, procedures, systems and standards.
Experience with data modelling and identifying when creation of new spatial datasets is required.
Experience managing and delivering spatial analysis projects in support of client’s business needs.
