The Innovation & Technology Team is seeking two (2) hardworking and motivated GIS Summer Staff for the 2021 summer season. As this is a Canada Summer Jobs initiative, eligible applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years old.

GIS Summer Student

Reporting to the Manager, Innovation & Technology, these people will be responsible for a variety of tasks including:

  • Building field data collection techniques and standards
  • Collecting field data
  • Entering data with a computer
  • Manipulating and cleaning up data on a computer
  • Documenting of existing data sets and out GIS environment
  • Creating training videos for technology related projects
  • Assisting on other technology projects as requested
  • Participating in the City’s Health & Safety Program
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be over 18 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Proficient in use of technology
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Excel and database structures
  • Familiar with FME(or willingness to learn)
  • Familiar with the ESRI work environment (or willingness to learn)
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain)
  • WHMIS Certification (or willingness to obtain)

As the successful candidate you will have the ability to:

  • Work standard hours but be open to flexible work days (35 hours per week)
  • Work in all weather conditions
  • Lift heavy equipment and materials up to 23 kilograms (50 lbs.)
  • Provide a clear Criminal Record Check
  • Provide a driver’s abstract that demonstrates responsible and safe driving behaviour
  • Communicate effectively and work as part of a team
  • Multi-task and prioritize the workload efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Provide approved safety boots
  • Adhere to all safety standards and promote Beaumont’s health and safety program

This term position offers a wage range of $18.00 – $21.09 per hour and up to 35-hours per week. Term end date is September 3, 2021, but may be subject to change.
