How is GISjobs.ca different from other job boards?
GISjobs.ca started promoting Canadian GIS jobs online in 2004. It originated from a few geomatics specialists who realized at the time, that there was very little online resources publishing employment details to the Canadian geomatics sector.
Canadian geomatics sector is a dynamic industry that spills into many other sectors. Therefore we have migrated over time, to include the term geospatial to help make the site more inclusive and include all geomatics related disciplines that have a geographic component to it.
Either way, when you use GISjobs.ca, you can be ensured that your geospatial job opportunity will be marketed to the Canadian Geospatial Community by experienced geomatics professionals.
Why should I use your site for job posting ?
GISjobs.ca is run by experienced geomatics professionals, and helps you easily get your job opportunities into the hands of those qualified candidates here in Canada.
Are you an employment agency or recruiting service?
No, we are not an employment agency, staffing service, recruiter, or headhunter. We do not place people into organizations, nor do we manage any payment processes between employer and employees who may get hires through our site.
GISjobs.ca is a geospatial website that promotes geomatics related job opportunities and online geospatial resumes to help bring the Canadian Geospatial Community together (employers & geospatial job seekers).
How to post a Geospatial Job Opportunity
In order to post your Geospatial Job Opportunity job on GISjobs.ca you need a Geospatial Employer Account. However, if you do not already have an existing account, then one will be created for you in the job posting process (if you do not remember your account login details then try restoring access using your e-mail).
Does it cost to Post a Geospatial Job Opportunity?
We do charge a job posting fee to help cover the expenses of hosting, running and marketing the site.
What is included in the price of job posting ?
Each job posting includes an individual job listing page, where you can include details about your organization and your job opportunity. The job listing page is then included with the other job postings on the job board, and in search results.
Your job posting page is then also promoted to our various geospatial networks such as emails, and social media. We post to several Twitter accounts and FaceBook pages providing others the ability to share your opportunities in their networks as well.

How do I post a job if I have an account?
If you have posted jobs on GISjobs.ca before, then the system would have created you an account for you during the process.
Therefore if you already have an account, then simply log-in to your employer account first, and then proceed with the job posting process.
This way your details will all be contained within your Geospatial Employer Dashboard.
If you do not remember your account details then you can try to restore your account, contact us for some assistance, or post your job opportunity with a different email
What payment methods are accepted?
We use a third party payment processor known as Stripe.comhttps://stripe.com/en-ca to process our site fees. Stripe accepts all major debit and credit cards from most banks. If you run into any issues, then reach out to our admin team for assistance.
How long does it take for my job posting to show up on the site?
Job postings require an admin to accept the posting before they appear online. This helps ensure that only geomatics related jobs get published.
The site is monitored daily and jobs submitted are usually published very quickly but can sometimes take up to a full business day.
How can I change my password ?
Go to the Restore Password page. Enter your email and and click the restore password button at the bottom to have a password restore link sent to your email.
If you continue to have trouble then contact us and we can manually update your password for you.
I have requested a password reset but not receiving anything. What’s going on?
When you use the password reset form, the system will e-mail you a link that you can use to reset your password. If you do not receive the password, please check your spam/junk folder in your email (unfortunately, some email providers block those types of e-mail notices automatically).
If you continue to have trouble then contact us and we can manually update your password for you.
Can I publish a job opportunity for free?
The system is setup to automatically charge all job postings a processing fee, however sometimes we have been known to post jobs for non profit organizations or companies that wish to test out our service in exchange for some sort of in-kind contribution to the site.
So if your organization has limited budget but you still need to advertise your geospatial job opportunity, then reach out to us and perhaps we can still help you out.
How is my personal information safeguarded ?
Your information is safe with us, we treat your information in the same way that we would like others treat ours.
Basic information that is collected is used for registration, contacting you, and billing purposes (and actually we do not ever get any of your payment information, as that is handled securely by Stripe.com). We also do not share or sell your information to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for further information.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, reach out to us though the contact us page with a request to close of your account, and we will ensure that you removed from the system.
What if my question isn’t answered here?
This FAQ section is a relatively new feature to the website, if you can not find an answer to your questions here, then feel free to reach out to us though the contact us page and we will do our best to get back to you with help to your questions.
